One of the best things about living in a new area AND working as a photographer is the endless opportunity for new locations to photograph. Every outing and short day trip with the family is a chance for me to capture that first-time experience through images. It’s also pretty convenient for collecting images for my monthly photography projects like the 10 on 10 below.
The goal of 10 on 10 is to document one day or event with 10 images. So technically, I cheated a bit and posted 12. But after editing and uploading all the images, I just couldn’t remove two. Sorting, editing and posting is a lot of work!
So the trip below was a weekend outing my family took to DuPont State Forest to hike up to Triple Falls waterfalls. First off, we chose probably the busiest day of the year…Sunday on Labor Day weekend. So the trail was crowded with all levels of hikers. But the scenery was still beautiful. An added bonus to the hike was learning that part of the Hunger Games was filmed here. Katniss Everdeen ran across the falls in one part of the movie, with safety harnesses of course.
The hike was easy and the swim at the bottom chilly but refreshing. So here we go with our first official hike since we made the move to Asheville. (And since I because an Asheville lifestyle photographer… 😉 pardon the search engine plug!)

Triple Falls includes three different waterfalls. Here my youngest walks across the middle falls, not an easy thing for a mom to photograph.
Dad and Patrick the Poodle wait at the mid-way point while I attempt to scale a rock with my camera bag. Not pretty.

And finally at the bottom of the falls after a long hot hike… my youngest tests out the freezing waters
