Working as a photographer when you have kids is great considering the many opportunities school field trips allow for some neat and sometimes unusual images. Take my son’s recent field trip to Flavor 1st tomato farm in Mills River, NC, for some tomato picking! The farm fields were gorgeous and the kids had a ball climbing through the tall vegetable rows and picking their own ripe grape tomatoes. It was fun to watch them race down the rows competing to find the reddest pick of the crop and quickly pluck it from the vines. And it was really fun to load the car with bags full of free tomatoes to keep! Thank you, Flavor 1st!
After picking tomatoes, the kids headed to the packing plant to see how the vegetables go from the fields to the stores. Wearing hairnets that ended up wrapped around their faces, the kids toured the building to see where the tomatoes are picked, cleaned, wrapped and selected to sell.
And for a photographer trying to rebuild a business in Asheville (hint! hint!), it was a fun day to pull out the camera for a little lifestyle/commercial photography. So here we go…
