10 on 10… Ten photos taken throughout one day or event as a study in lifestyle photography. The photography blog circle group originated at The Bloom Forum.
As often happens, I waited until the last possible minute to take photos for the 10 on 10 project which meant yesterday was spent with camera in hand. But, the day proved to be beautiful and by beautiful I mean gorgeous, deep blue skies, few if any clouds, spring-like temps and our long-lost friend…the sun!
Because I can’t stand to stay inside or sit still on a day like that, I decided we needed to hit the trail. Inspired by a friend who ventured to the same spot the day before, we drove to Max Patch inside Pisgah National Forest.
Max Patch is a bald mountaintop with 360-degree views of the mountains. It’s a 6-mile drive on gravel to the top but worth it if the weather’s good. The spot is also a major landmark along the Appalachian Trail.
My friend recommended bringing kites which we did. Of course the only ones I found were the $1.37 kites which lasted about 10 minutes. But it still made for some fun shots. After exploring the mountaintop, we drove down and stopped to play in a creek before heading home. Perfect weather, perfect day! (Minus the small family argument when we made a wrong turn right before the top of the mountain. Traveling with loved ones…fun times. 😉 )
Never fun to wake up to a messy kitchen but it’s nothing a hot cup of coffee can’t fix (If you look closely under the wine glass, there’s a sheet of paper with “10 on 10” scribbled on it to remind me to pull out the camera!)
Little man playing Wii under his brother’s desk
Finally made it up the road to the top of the mountain
First kite-flying attempt walking to the top
Brothers goofing off on the mountaintop
One side of amazing views
Last attempt at kite-flying (judging by his face, it didn’t end well)
Resting at the top
Stopping at a creek on our way down
Searching for the perfect rock to skip (My oldest is a champion rock skipper!)
And back home to happy puppies (who don’t look very happy in the photo!)
Please continue on in the blog circle by visiting my friend to the south
