Baby, I’ve Been Missing You (Asheville newborn and baby photographer)

Since moving to Asheville more than two years ago, I’ve had the honor of photographing some amazing families, beautiful high school seniors, gorgeous wedding proposals, and super cute kids. But it just hit me…where have all the babies gone??? Back in Arkansas, babies were booming. I photographed the itty bitty ones at 2 weeks old and the chubby-cheeked ones at six months old. But since moving to Asheville, my baby photo quota (try saying that five times fast!) has dropped. And I miss the babies! As the mother to two quickly growing and somewhat smelly boys, I miss working with those little pink, tubby babies who smile and laugh at ALL my silly faces (and never once call me “weird” like my boys.) I miss the sweet, angelic newborns with their tiny hands and feet, held carefully by panicky moms who are bursting with the love of newfound motherhood. Baby Come Back!

So I decided to share a few from past baby sessions with hopes of enticing any moms-to-be in Asheville to schedule a newborn session. Or to encourage moms and dads with babies – crawling, walking, scooting, rolling – to set up a time for photos. You don’t want to miss any of those precious moments because trust me, TRUST ME, that adorable, squishy baby sweetness scoots quickly by and will one day be walking around your house wearing the same pair of socks they’ve had on for a week, asking what’s for dinner, and “crop dusting” their little brother simply because they can. (And yes, I did just include a link for “crop dusting” for any uninformed readers. Consider yourself lucky for not knowing.)

So what’s the rule for newborn photography? The first two weeks are best. Call or email when you’re pregnant to set up an approximate time. This includes your due date so I’ll have an idea. Once baby arrives, simply email me a good day, and we’ll go from there. I’ll come to your house for the session. No need to worry about getting little one out just yet. And I travel with hand sanitizer so no worries there either!

For the bigger babies, it’s best to schedule when babies can sit. And once they can sit, they’re oh so happy! And oh so fun to photograph!

So enjoy these few baby photos and consider scheduling your own. When they’re big and ignoring you because you embarrass them, you’ll miss it. Trust me.
