Today, I headed downtown for what I knew would be a great photo opp. The Trump Train was rolling into Asheville.
The Donald was speaking at the Cellular Center and, regardless of anyone’s political affiliation, I knew the event in our liberal, artistic city in the mountains was sure to offer up some fun photography. It did not disappoint.
I used to work for newspapers and realized today how much I miss photographing a big event, wandering around camera in hand with a press pass to grant me access, all the while looking super official. I didn’t need press credentials today but I still tried my best to look the part and was even asked by a Trumpster if I was with the media. Ummm…sure??? Apparently, there had been a few fights broken up right before I arrived and the Trumpster suggested I wait near her for another one to start.
Sadly, from a photographic standpoint only, things remained civil and just the occasional cheering startled the crowd. I even witnessed a Trump protester, holding a “Trump is Toxic” sign, hug a man draped in a “Make America Great Again” sign. It is all about peace and love in Asheville, right?
So here you go…today at the Trump rally in a photo-journalistic, nonpartisan post…enjoy.
