The High AND Low Points of High Point

Another day, another row.

Our second spring rowing regatta took us back to High Point, North Carolina this past weekend for the 2018 State Rowing Championships. High Point lived up to its name, and then it didn’t.

High Points

Seeing your teen smile and laugh with his friends…enjoying the return of warm weather (even though it lasted only two days)…a few state rowing titles for the club…and spending the day with dear friends who always come through with a smile and a hug when the day wears on.

Low Points

Choppy water on the course…a less than stellar team hotel (due to furniture market weekend) which made me thankful we stayed elsewhere…and another disappointing dining experience simply because Asheville’s amazing food scene spoils us from finding equally delicious food anywhere on the road. Shame on you, Asheville! 😉

But despite the wavering, windy experience of High Point, watching our son spend a sunny day doing something athletic while he smiles with his friends makes it all worth it.
