Being surrounded by boys – my two sons, my brothers, and all my cousins – makes it super easy to photograph an all-boy session. But some moms will contact me apologizing before it’s begun.
“I have boys.” Dramatic pause. “They’re wild.” Another pause followed by a more convincing description. “No, really they’re very wild. They won’t sit still, ever. Ever!” A pause followed by an almost cry for help. “We haven’t done this in years because I have no idea what they’ll do!”
Ok, calm down, relax. Really, how bad can it get?! Mud wars? I like mud. Tackling each other on the lawn? I move fast with a camera. Eight-year-old determined to be the next American Ninja Warrior by scaling anything 10 feet and taller? Sounds like a nice artistic shot. And then I tell them…bring it on!
Before I continue, the mom of the two boys below was very laid-back and didn’t fall into that panicky category at all. She was a dream client! Her boys were polite and took direction well. But they were boys, and that meant running, getting a little dirty, and attempting to strangle your sibling five seconds after the sweet, arm in arm pose. Boys crack me up.
She brought her two sons up from Florida so the oldest could attend camp. She was happy with the location I picked because obviously, Florida is lacking in mountains, mountain streams, mountain trails and so on. It was the perfect spot for the boys to run and explore.
We were all dirty and wet after an hour on the trails. And I felt bad when the oldest son fell in the creek with his only pair of tennis shoes for his week at camp. But like I said, mom was a dream client and it didn’t phase her one bit.
So bring your boys and we’ll make it a fun session. They’ll leave exhausted and you’ll leave content that finally, FINALLY your boys were photographed and you didn’t have to worry one bit. If you’re still nervous, pour yourself a glass of wine, bring a chair to the session and relax. I’ll handle it all!
